Punjab Minister for Education, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, has said that the provincial government has allocated Rs 30 million for the repair and renovation of Iqbal Manzil (Sialkot, the birthplace of poet and philosopher Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
In an informal chat with Business Recorder on Tuesday at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI, he said that the repair and renovation work of Iqbal Manzil has already been initiated with a view to maintaining its originality and protecting it from further damage.
The minister, who also holds the portfolio of Youth Affairs and Sports, disclosed that a museum would be established at Iqbal Manzil where different articles belonging to Allama Iqbal and rare books, written by various authors on Iqbal, would be displayed to facilitate the visitors from home and abroad. More funds for the repair and renovation work of Iqbal Manzil would be earmarked in the next budget for maintaining originality of Iqbal Manzil, he added.
