Tannery Zone's on-going projects: Commissioner orders early completion

Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Siddiqui, has directed concerned officials to expedite and complete all the on-going projects in Korangi Industrial Area's Tannery Zone on priority. He gave these instructions during his meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) which was led by its Chairman Fawad Jawed.
The Commissioner also directed the officials concerned to ensure cleanliness in the area by regularly removing solid waste. On this occasion, Siddiqui, also asked deputy Commissioner, Zubair A. Channa, to remove all encroachments from the area, besides ensuring that oil tankers of National Refinery might not create traffic congestion on Road-5000.
Referring to the water supply issue of the Tannery Zone, he directed the acting Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Najam Alam Siddiqui, to take all possible measures for allocating a separate quota of water to the Tannery Zone from the newly-laid water pipelines. On the issue of gas pressure, he asked the KMC to allot a plot of land (ST 18) to tannery zone for setting up gas pumping station so as to provide proper gas pressure to the industries of the zone. The PTA chief, Fawad Jawed, informed the Commissioner Karachi that many industries of the zone have been facing acute water shortage. He lauded the efforts of Commissioner Karachi for taking up the Tannery Zone's issues on priority.
