Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said punishment of Pervez Musharraf alone in high treason case under Article 6 is not justified and against the spirit of justice. The allies of Musharraf who had endorsed and validated his decisions must be convicted for the sake of justice, he said.
Talking to newsmen at Multan airport, he said the accused must be given the chance of defence for free, fair and transparent justice, adding that a prosecution system has to be introduced in the country for interrogation on merit because the society cannot be strengthened without justice. He said the constitution provides each citizen an environment of impartial trial, adding he was the victim of free and fair trial.
He said he moved in the Supreme Court on the dismissal of former premier Benazir Bhutto's government for justice, but the parameters of justice were not followed in his case. Later, Nawaz Sharif government was sacked unconstitutionally. He underlined the need for strengthening the justice system in the country. Criticizing the Pakistan Protection Bill, he said it is the duplicate of NAB black law.
Gilani said he was imprisoned for 10 years without any guilt and he was involved into baseless corruption cases and all the accused had been granted bail in Haj corruption, Ogra scandal. He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's death conviction was a judicial murder. Gilani said free, fair and transparent trial is compulsory for the sake of justice in the country.
