The Lahore High Court adjourned for second week of May, for submission of reply by DCO Sheikhupura and others in a petition against refusal of NOC for construction of LPG storage plant. Earlier, a law officer Ms Saima Khalid on behalf of TMA Ferozwala submitted reply, which said NOC was rightly refused by the TMA. The law officer, however, sought time to submit reply on behalf of DCO Sheikhupura.
The counsel of the petitioner, Mohammad Azhar Siddique, argued that NOC was refused without cogent reasons. He said the petitioner company invested 60 crores for building Pakistan largest LPG storage plant, in order to over come energy crises in Pakistan. Present government, politically declined the issuance of NOC and just nearer to the petitioner plan Yaseen LPG, NOC was issued and is working on the spot, so it is a very fit case of discrimination. Even otherwise the government of Punjab had not yet filed the reply in the petition. Azhar argued that right to business is being violated in the case and refusal of NOC by the TMA, DCO and Secretary Local Government is illegal.
