Classical hockey to be revived in the country: Shahnaz

Chief coach Pakistan hockey team Shahnaz Sheikh has said that a strategy has been evolved for the revival of classical hockey in the country. Speaking to media on Thursday night at local hotel he said that under the special attention would be focused on activating hockey clubs for hunting talent at gross roots level across the country.
We will try our utmost to groom talented players to induct them in junior hockey and this in regard activation of hockey clubs are vital he said. Shahnaz disclosed that steps were being taken for holding of open hockey trials across the country for tracing the talented players adding after selection the senior and junior teams would teams would be finalized purely on merits.
The doors of nepotism and political backing have been closed for the survival the game of hockey in the country adding that initial preparation for Asian fixture would be started in near future aimed at preparing hockey team on modern and classical hockey lines for defending our title he said. On this occasion the chief hockey coach urged upon the corporate sector, banks, mobile phone companies and hockey sticks makers that they should extend their full support to Pakistan Hockey Federation for the revival the game of hockey in the country.
On his arrival Shahnaz Sheikh was accorded warm welcome by the people belonging to different walks of life including top hockey sticks makers. They assured that hockey sticks manufacturers will extend full co-operation and support to Pakistan Hockey Federation for the promotion of hockey at gross roots level in the country.
