Seems like Samsung is really into Artificial intelligence (AI) as it has announced plans to integrate AI features in all of its products by 2020.
Though Samsung’s long rumored Bixby powered smart speaker is expected to arrive later this year, Samsung Consumer Electronics CEO Kim Hyun-suk told Wall Street Journal that he expects AI voice control to be available in basically all of Samsung’s devices by the year 2020.
“Deep down, I wonder why everyone is talking about [smart] speakers,” he said, as a result planned to pack internet connectivity and AI-powered Bixby voice controls in every Samsung product that it sells, including washing machines, televisions, refrigerators, dryers and more, by 2020, making the smart speakers less important.

Kim explained that the company will accomplish its AI-integration mission by building a team of 1,000 AI-focused engineers in the same time frame, including reassignments for some staff, reported Engadget.
Samsung’s goal behind this project is to unify all its products and permit them to take directions and respond to requests for information, which would be done by the company’s own virtual personal assistant Bixby.
As per Phone Arena, the tech giant believes that by unifying all its appliances, mobile devices, and televisions via Bixby will increase demand for the company’s products. By unifying all of its products, there could come a day when Bixby will remind people via their Samsung television to take their clothes out of their Samsung washer, and put them into the Samsung dryer.
