The Speaker of the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag) Per Westerberg will arrive here on Sunday (tomorrow) on a three-day official visit to Pakistan. The Swedish Speaker is accompanied by a twenty-member delegation comprising parliamentarians and leading businessmen.
During its stay in Pakistan, the Swedish delegation apart from meeting with Speaker National Assembly will also meet President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chairman Senate, Federal Ministers for Finance, Commerce, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Information Technology and Telecommunications, National Food Security, Petroleum and Natural Resources and Law and Justice.
The Swedish Parliamentarians will also meet Women Parliamentarians and Members of the Pakistan-Sweden Parliamentary Friendship Group in the National Assembly. In last leg of its visit, the delegation will visit Lahore to interact with members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The visit of Swedish delegation is being viewed as a positive step towards strengthening of bilateral and trade relations existing between Pakistan and Sweden. Pakistan values its bilateral relations with Sweden and appreciates Swedish support for Pakistan for the Autonomous Trade Preferences (ATPs) package for Pakistan including their assistance in attaining GSP Plus status by the European Union.
It is anticipated that the exchange of views and experiences between Pakistani and Swedish Parliamentarians would understand each other's perspectives more clearly whereas the interaction between businessmen would help explore vast economic potential in Pakistan.-PR
