The Karachi Port handled 96,555 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,281 tonnes of import cargo and 274 tonnes of export cargo including 1,517 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 96,281 tonnes comprised of 22,176 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,854 tonnes of general cargo; 28,641 tonnes of bulk cargo and 26,610 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo comprised of 274 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 1,517 containers comprising 1,419 containers import and 98 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 743 of 20's and 337 of 40's loaded while 2 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows nil of 20's and nil of 40's loaded containers while 46 of 20's and 26 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely APL Seattle, UASC Ajman, Lissy Schulte, Yukon Star, Al-Mahboobah, Han Hui, Iliana, Ken Orchid and Ikan Sembak carrying containers, oil tankers, general cargo, fertilizer and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Northern Power, Hanjin California, MT Quetta, Han Hui, Iliana and Alam Maju carrying containers, oil tanker, general cargo and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Nadeem carrying cement sailed out to sea on Monday, while four ships namely Northern Power, Pona, Hanjin California and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. There were two vessels viz. Pona and Rickmers Hamburg carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday, while five vessels viz. Ratna Shurti, Maliau, Tradewind, BW Orinoco and Pyxis carrying oil tankers, mogas and coal respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
