Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that May 28 is a very important day in the political and defence history of Pakistan as on this day, this great country of Islamic world wrote a new history by conducting nuclear tests despite great pressure. Felicitating the nation on the 16th Youm-e-Takbeer, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government decided to conduct nuclear tests in order to make defence of Pakistan impregnable and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif disregarded all pressure in this regard.
He said that the whole Pakistani nation was proud of this historic achievement on May 28, 1998. There is a need to celebrate this important day of national history in a befitting manner. Shahbaz Sharif said that on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer, the people will have to resolve that just as Pakistani nation, leadership, armed forces and scientists made supreme efforts to secure the geographical frontiers of Pakistan, similarly, every sacrifice will be made for protection of ideological frontiers of the country and coping with the challenge of terrorism. He further said that May 28 reflects national aspirations and is the day of national solidarity as on this the day when Pakistan was recognised as the most powerful country of the Islamic world.-PR
