Thousands of mourners reached Pir Jo Goth in Khairpur to attend the funeral of Pir Sahib Pagara on Thursday. Pir Pagara, who was the chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) passed away on Tuesday in London due to a cardiac arrest in the Wellington Hospital, London, on January 10. He was taken to London on January 5 for a chest infection. Mourners surrounded the body at the funeral procession as they performed the last rites of the late Pir Sahib Pagara. Followers who wanted to come close and view the body for the last time were kept away by people wielding sticks due to security and to avoid any untoward incident. Among the prominent politicians who attended the funeral included Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, former Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, former Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Prime Minister’s son Abdul Qadir Gilani, Federal Minister Khuda Bux Rajar and MPAs including Imtiaz Sheikh, Jam Madad Ali and Khan Muhammed Mehr.
