More than 0.5 million pensioners of the Employees Old-age Benefit Institution (EOBI) across the country have been disappointed over the Federal Government's apathy towards them as it has not increased their minimum pension even in the 2014-15 Federal Budget.
Talking to Business Recorder, EOBI pensioners said though the government had increased minimum pension for the government retired employees from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6, 000 per month in the budget yet it was not applicable to EOBI pensioners whose paltry pension still remain Rs 3,600 It may be added that PML (N) government had increased minimum pension of the government retired employees from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 in the 2013-14 budget.
