The Karachi Port handled 211,006 tonnes of cargo comprising 165,605 tonnes of import cargo and 45,401 tonnes of export cargo including 3,210 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 165,605 tonnes comprised of 48,438 tonnes of containerised cargo; 34,498 tonnes of coal and 82,669 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 45,401 tonnes comprised of 12,783 tonnes of containerised cargo; 215 tonnes of general cargo; 24,823 tonnes of bulk cargo: 21,189 tonnes of cement; 1,874 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 1,760 tonnes of talcum powder and 7,580 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,210 containers comprising 2,506 containers import and 704 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,047 of 20's and 633 of 40's loaded while 85 of 20's and 54 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 134 of 20's and 74 of 40's loaded containers while 240 of 20's and 91 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Ever Pearl, Hyundai Jakarta, APL Seattle, Kota Kaya, Al Shroog, Yukon Star, Laurel Galaxy, Sunrise Eco, and Arikun carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. HS Marco Polo, Venetiko, MT Quetta, Laurel Galaxy, Nave Universe and Turgut Reis carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely MT Quetta and Genco Auvergne carrying oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Monday. There were five vessels viz. Epress Kailash, YM Oakland, Teera Bhum, N Mars and Liberty Pride carrying containers, mogas and vehicles respectively due to arrive on Monday, while three vessels viz. Kota Hening, Ocean Explorer and DA Cul Yun carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
