The Lahore High Court here on Tuesday warned Punjab government of stopping salaries of its officers if judicial allowance was not given to employees of the court. Hearing a petition against non-payment of the allowance for many years, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah also summoned Punjab secretary finance on June 25 (today).
The petitioners' counsel argued that Federal Government announced 50 percent judicial and ad hoc relief allowance for employees of all high courts in the country. He said employees of Supreme Court and all high courts except LHC have been given the allowances.
He said four years have been lapsed but the employees of the LHC are still waiting for the allowances despite various directions of the court. He said Punjab government is delaying the implementation of allowances deliberately. The court expressing concern over pending of the petition since 2011 directed the secretary finance to appear before the court in person.
