Elahi seeks Shahbaz's resignation over Model Town tragedy

Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said Shahbaz Sharif has proved a liar on the basis of his Principal Secretary's statement in the Model Town tragedy, hence, he should have moral courage and resign from the office of chief executive of the province.
Talking to reporters here at Minhajul Quran Secretariat Model Town on Thursday, Elahi said US President Nixon on his lie being established had apologised to the nation and resigned. "Revolution would be constitutional and legal. We all were unanimous over joint struggle while contacts are also being made with Imran Khan," he said. He said "our party's stance regarding revolution was very clear and we have alliance with Allama Dr Tahirul Qadri."
The PML-Q leader said "we had taken revolutionary measures including Rescue 1122 during our tenure, whereas today we all are fed up with the government of lies." He said 10-point agenda was in accordance with the Constitution and the government had implemented five out of 10 points in Punjab. "We provided free medicines in the hospitals and free education, during our tenure doctors, teachers and nurses were not on the roads, we have implemented revolutionary agenda and we have got experience also," he said.
Elahi said Principal Secretary to Shahbaz Sharif has admitted in his statement before the Judicial Commission that he (Chief Minister) was kept informed minute to minute about Model Town tragedy. In the Watergate Scandal US President Richard Nixon had to step down from the President's office on allowing tapping his opponents, he had also apologised to the nation but Shahbaz Sharif do not have enough moral courage that he should apologise to the nation and tender his resignation, Elahi said.
The PML-Q leader said blood of the innocent people would speak, there was no such instance in the history of Pakistan that the Prime Minister or the Chief Minister give order shooting down of own citizens, they would certainly be made accountable before Almighty Allah.
