Spot corn basis bids were steady to narrowly mixed, while soyabean bids held steady around the US Midwest on Thursday, dealers said. Chicago Board of Trade corn and soya futures fell. Some farmers booked light corn sales on fears CBOT corn futures would fall further and drag cash prices even lower, dealers in northern Ohio said.
In western Iowa, farmers held off on booking sales due to the low CBOT corn futures, a grain merchant said. CBOT corn fell for the 8th straight session pressured by good crop weather. CBOT soya fell on expectations of a large crop. A corn bid rose by 3 cents per bushel at a closely followed processor in Decatur, Illinois. Bids for shipped by rail were 3 to 6 cents per bushel lower in Ohio and Indiana. Corn bids fell by 2 cents per bushel at a processor in Nebraska.
