Rs 346.152 million distributed among IDPs: Prime Minister informed

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was informed that the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (Safron) has distributed Rs 346.152 million among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). According to a report submitted to the Prime Minister on Saturday cash among 28,846 families has been distributed so far. Further financial assistance will be distributed through 'Zong' SIMS only. So far 27,767 SIMS have been distributed and more than 15,000 SIMS have been activated.
The Prime Minister was further informed that all federal institutions under the directions of the PM are co-ordinating effectively for better IDPs management which includes Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (Safron), Pakistan Army, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA), National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra) and Water & Power Development Authority (Wapda), etc.
The details of facilities at registration and facilitation points are as under: (i) waiting area for both males and females; (ii) registration desks; (iii) water and tanks; (iv) ambulances; (v) Nadra facilitation points; (vi) refreshment boxes with mineral water and dates for all arriving families; (vii) administration of Polio vaccination; (viii) lavatories; (ix) availability of electricity; (x) establishment of IDPs camp. Initially, the site of the camp was selected at Kashoo Bridge on Bannu-Indus Highway Link Road at a distance of 15 Kms from Bannu City. Therefore, the activity was required to be managed by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority having their administrative jurisdiction.
However, on the insistence of Law Enforcement Agencies, the site has now been shifted to Baka Khel (Frontier Region Bannu) near Baran Dam. After shifting the site to new point, FDMA has carried out the following development work at the site; (i) ground levelling and other development work has been completed; (ii) six shelters with the size of 50'x20' one each for male and female has been completed; (iii) 10 water storage tanks each having 2,000 gallons installed capacity; (iv) six additional waiting shades, one having size of 50'x20' and two 14'x12' are being installed; (v) 12 latrines and washrooms; (vi) 2,000 tents have been pitched; (vii) 1,000 dry food ration of 90-Kg each; (viii) electricity facility is available in the camp; (ix) health facility and polio vaccination is also available in the camp.
