Matters relating to the formation of Electoral Reforms Committee and its composition were finalised, as the Committee will have one-third representation from the Senate and two-thirds from the National Assembly. In this regard, a meeting was held here at Parliament's House, which was jointly chaired by Chairman Senate, Nayyer Bukhari, and Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Later, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq told media representatives that the composition of the committee was finalised.
He said the committee will comprise 33 lawmakers - one third (11 members) from Senate and two thirds (22 members) from National Assembly. He said that the opposition would again propose names for the committee. He said Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, would submit nominations after holding consultations with other opposition parties in one week's time. From government's side, he added, leader of the house in the Senate, Raja Zafarul Haq, and the ruling party's Chief Whip in the National Assembly Shaikh Aftab Ahmed would finalise names for the committee.
