At least seven people including a cop were killed in different incidents of violence in the city, here on Monday. According to police and rescue sources, Inspector Rafiq Baloch son of Sardar Baloach was shot and killed by unidentified persons near 'Bithai Hall' in Lyari, in the jurisdictions of Baghdadi police station. Police said that the incident occurred in morning when Inspector Rafiq was on the way to somewhere in the meantime some unidentified persons fired at him and managed to flee from the scene leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Civil Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries due to excessive bleeding. Police said that the deceased was posted at Saddar police station. In another incident, a man named Wasi Alam son of Wakeel Alam was shot and killed by unknown persons near Islam Chowk, Orangi Town in the jurisdictions of Iqbal Market police station. The body was shifted to a nearby private hospital.
One, Haji Qutbuddin, 45, was gunned down by unidentified men near Jamshed Pump in Qasba Colony in Orangi Town. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities. Jabbar, 35, was shot and killed by unknown persons near Rais Amrohi Colony, Orangi Town, Block 11.5. The body was shifted to ASH for legal formalities.
Meanwhile, three persons were killed while five others injured when a compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinder exploded at a CNG filing station in Federal B. Area. A bus was refuelling CNG at a station when its cylinder explodes, rescuers said. The bodies and injured were moved to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment. Chairman All Pakistan CNG Association (Sindh Chapter) Shabbir Sulaiman said that the incident happened installation of substandard cylinder in the bus, which was not approved by HDIP. In another incident, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Iqbal was shot and injured by unknown persons in the jurisdictions of Pirabad police station. He was rushed to ASH for treatment.
