Eidul Fitr: Railways reduces fares by 50 percent

As a special discount on the occasion of Eidul Fitr, Pakistan Railways has decided to reduce fares by fifty percent. The discount will be given to first class, economy, AC, Sleeper and passengers of other categories. The notification regarding discount will be issue in next two days. GM Railways Anjum Pervez said that passengers can also make advance booking for the first and second day of Eidul Fitr.
On the other hand, Railways Minister Saad Rafique has announced that Pakistan Railways will run a special 'Independence Train' next month as part of Independence Day celebrations. The decision was made at a meeting of the cabinet committee regarding Independence Day celebrations. Saad Rafique said we would try that Independence Train should pass through every big and small stations so that people get a positive impression of hope and happiness.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has embarked upon an ambitious programme of installing computerised signalling system on rail track between Karachi and Peshawar to ensure smooth and safe journey. For this purpose, eight hundred million rupees have been allocated to upgrade old signalling system from Karachi to Peshawar. On completion of the project, the train will stop automatically in case of red light at any signal which will help reduce accident rates.
