Campaign for IDPs: PNC team visits Army Relief Camp to show solidarity

The Pakistan National Cricket (PNC) team visited the Army Relief Camp at Fortress Stadium Lahore to express solidarity with Pak Army in the ongoing relief campaign for internally displaced persons of North Waziristan. The national cricket players extolled the overall army effort and acknowledged the sacrifices being rendered by soldiers and the IDPs for security and stability of the country.
They emphasised the need for greater national unity and resolve in this hour of trail. They appealed to philanthropists and welfare organisations to come forward and join hands for this cause of great national consequence. Pakistan Cricket team presented a cheque of Rs 0.4 M as a donation. A large number of cricket fans present at the camp made generous contribution of Rs 1 M in a short time of 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, a consignment of 17 trucks loaded with approximately 172.4 tons of food items was dispatched for DI Khan from Army Relief Camp Fortress Stadium today. This was seventh consignment of relief goods sent from Lahore Garrison. Pakistan Army has so far dispatched 74 truck loads with 634.4 tons of relief items for IDPs from Lahore. While Rs 46.3 million have been collected in cash donations till date.
