Nisar for devising security plan for Eidul Fitr

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday issued strict directives to Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration to make comprehensive security arrangements during the last days of Ramazan and on the eve of Eidul Fitr. The Interior Minister also took strong notice of recent incident of human smuggling from Islamabad Airport and said that strict action would be taken against those officials who were found guilty.
He was presiding over a meeting of heads of related departments of ministry of interior. The meeting discussed in detail various measures to check and deter illegal immigration, an official said. He said that Nisar asked Islamabad police to further tighten security in the city during the last days of Ramazan and devise comprehensive security plan for Eidul Fitr. The minister asked Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad to form committee consisting of police and civilian officers to check Nakas and directed to improve the security checking at Nakas, especially on sensitive roads like Margalla Road, Murree Road, Kashmir Highway and roads in Red Zone, he said.
Aftab Ahmad Cheema IGP Islamabad informed the meeting that the city police are conducting operation on weekly basis to check unlawful elements, especially in suburbs of Islamabad. Chairman Nadra Imtiaz Tajawar informed the meeting that household survey in seven out 21 sectors of Islamabad have been completed with the help of Islamabad police and registration in rest of sectors will be completed by the end of November.
Nisar directed to simultaneously analyze the data collected during the registration process according to the security point of view and added that the data collected from the sub-urban abadis must be properly analysed and the periphery of Islamabad be properly secured. Chairman Nadra also informed that construction work on safe city project is under way. He said that sites for installing camera have been finalised in consultation with police.
The minister directed the officers to rise to the occasion and work beyond the call of their duty and make progress keeping in view strict deadlines. Nisar also emphasised that incompetence, dishonesty and lack of commitment will not be tolerated in any government department. Secretary Interior, Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Chairman Nadra, Secretary Narcotics, IGP Islamabad, Chief Commissioner ICT, National Co-ordinator National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), DG Immigration and Passports, DG Civil Defence, DG National Police Bureau and DG National Police Foundation also attended the meeting.
