Lahore killings: Sanaullah, Tauqir, others cross-examined

The inquiry tribunal here on Friday cross-examined former law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, former principal secretary to Punjab Chief Minister Dr Tauqir Shah and a number of police officers during in-camera proceedings. Earlier, Advocate General Punjab Hanif Khatana sought time to submit affidavit of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the June 17 incident. Allowing the request, the tribunal asked the law officer to submit his affidavit on next hearing.
The tribunal-headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi adjourned the proceedings till July 26 (today). DSP Mir Kashif Khalil, Inspector/SHO Gulberg Zulfiqar Ali, Inspector/SHO Kahna Mohammad Ishtiaq, DSP/SDPO Ichhra Model Town Division Rana Mohammad Islam, were among the officers who were cross-examined by the tribunal. Meanwhile, Mian Javed Iqbal, son of Mian Ahmad, an eyewitness of the incident and a resident of the area, also recorded his statement.
Deputy Director ISI Asad Ali Khan submitted an analysis report of eight cell phone numbers, owned by top political and administrative authorities. The tribunal making the report part of the record directed the officer to submit final report on next hearing. A report was also submitted on behalf of federal secretary establishment Nadeem Hassan Asif, narrating "facts and circumstances," which prompted the government to transfer IGP Punjab.
