Shahbaz reviews progress on power projects

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of energy working group here on Friday which reviewed the progress on power projects. Federal Minister for Water & Power Khwaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, State Minister for Water & Power Abid Sher Ali, Federal Secretaries Water & Power and Planning and Finance, Additional Chief Secretary Energy and concerned officers were present.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan is facing serious problem of shortage of electricity which has badly affected every sector. He said that completion of energy projects within stipulated period will be ensured. He said that government is taking expeditious measures for resolving energy crisis and work is continuing on various energy projects with the co-operation of China. Shahbaz Sharif said that planning has also been made for setting up small coal-based power projects in Punjab. Federal Minister for Railways Saad Rafique said that Railways system is being upgraded for the supply of coal from Karachi port. He said that Ministry of Railways will extend all out cooperation in supplying coal to power plants.
