Muttahida Qaumi Movement Raabta Committee (MQM RC) condemns the prolonged power breakdown in Karachi and Hyderabad and expressed concern on the power outage on Juma-tul Wida. In a statement, MQM Raabta Committee said tripping of power feeders during monsoon season, suspension of economic activities and non-supply of water are clear indicators that the electricity system has worn out and no effective measures are being taken to address the problem.
The co-ordination committee further said the supply of electricity has not been ensured in Karachi and Hyderabad even in holy months such as Ramazan despite the residents of the two cities are paying bills. "Karachi and Hyderabad are the engines of progress in Pakistan and power supply is utmost necessary. The bright future and development of the country depends on electricity," MQM said.
They demanded President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the prolonged power breakdown in the two cities and to reform the electricity system.
