Eid message: Zardari urges people to assist IDPs, express solidarity with Palestinians

28 Jul, 2014

"On the Eid day this year I wish to call upon the countrymen to spread out and assist in the relief and rehabilitation of our unsung heroes in the war against terror namely the nearly one million internally displaced persons of North Waziristan. This is also an occasion to express solidarity with our Palestinians brothers and sisters in Gaza who have been subjected to worst form of brutalities by Israel for the past several weeks".
This has been stated by PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in a message on the eve of Eid ul Fitr.
"We bow our heads in gratitude to Allah on this day for blessing us with the bounties of the holy month of Ramazan," he said and added: "I wish to greet all Muslims of the world on this thanksgiving day which is also a day of celebrations and rejoicing."
However, a festive occasion like this also calls for genuinely sharing and caring for others. We must therefore reach out to the nearly one million IDPs who have been forced to live in tents and makeshift homes in Bannu and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said.
"On this occasion therefore I ask the party workers to spend some time of the Eid with the internally displaced people as well as the families of soldiers and law-enforcement agencies who are valiantly fighting the extremists and militants to defend the motherland."
"A thought must also be spared for those members of our armed forces, the police, the law-enforcement agencies and civilians who laid down their lives in the fight against militants so that we may truly celebrate Eid in peace."
"May Allah in His infinite mercy grant our supplications and guide us to imbibe the spirit of Ramazan throughout the year.
