01 Aug, 2014

Indian troops resorted to unprovoked firing on Thursday morning across the Line of Control (LoC) in Gultri sector near Astore (Gilgit-Baltistan), according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). This is for the first time that Indian troops resorted to firing in Astore sector of LoC. Pakistani troops responded effectively to the Indian firing, the statement added.
In the past, such type of violation occurred on July 23, resulting in killing of one person in Shakargarh sector on the Pakistani side of the LoC after Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly opened fire. Earlier, on July 20, one person was killed in Mirajke area along the Pakistani side of the LoC by India's BSF firing, which also injured three women and a child.
