04 Aug, 2014

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government will not remain in power by the end of current month. "A 'revolution' will come at all costs," overwhelmed Qadri roared in the applause of his supporters, who gathered there in large numbers.
Pointing to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he asked him to pick the government (federal, provincial) that he would prefer to see fall first.
While addressing a press conference in Lahore after presiding over the general council meeting of Pakistan Awami Tehreek here Sunday, he castigated the PML-N government for mishandling the Model Town incident. He said this would have been handled differently, if it occurred in the Western country.
He stated that on June 17, at least 14 PAT workers were killed and dozens of others injured in violent clashes between party activists and policemen.
Elaborating, he said the confrontation commenced when a 15-member police team tried to remove barriers in front of his residence and the Minhaj International Secretariat here.
Qadri stated that an FIR against the demise of PAT workers had not been registered even a month-and-a-half after clashes occurred. "The provincial government did not let the case get registered even till now." Comparing with Western and European states, the USA and the UK, he stated that the people of Pakistan were worse than their dogs.
Qadri alleged that Shahbaz Sharif was directly involved in the killing of his activists as he had complete record of telephonic calls with him. He said on a proper time they would reveal these records.
Tahirul Qadri warned that if there was wrong this time on the behalf of the authorities and the police, they would be treated in the same mannerism. He warned police officers to tread carefully in future developments regarding his party.
He warned the authorities to mend their ways as there would be no one to shelter them after at the end of current month, he warned.
The PAT leader announced on the occasion of holding of 'Youm-e-Shuhada' on August 10 this year. He announced that August 4 to August 9 would be observed as a week of martyrs. He appealed to people of all walks of life to participate in the program.
Qadri again warned that if their plan to hold program of Youm-e-Shuhada was disrupted then they would hold this at 'Jati Umra', the residence of the Sharif family.
PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and leader of Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen Raja Nasir Abbas were also present on the occasion.
Qadri, the fiery speaker whose anti-government campaigns has put the ruling PML-N in a quagmire since his arrival in Pakistan in June this year, warned the provincial Punjab government against any crackdown on his party workers.
Referring to the Model Town incident, he said: "I waited for two months, but justice was not delivered to us. Our love for peace should not be construed as cowardly behaviour." "There will be an 'Inqalab march', but before that there was a need to account for blood of the martyrs," he pointed.
The PAT leader said blood of their martyrs would not go in vain. "We will take steps as per teachings of the Holy Quran," he pointed. Qadri dilated that an eye for an eye was justice as enshrined in our religion. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that they would hold peaceful 'Yom-e-Shuhada' and if someone tries to create obstacles in its way would face severe consequences.
He said at present two parallel cases were under proceeding. The religious leader stated that one of such cases was relevant to the Model Town incident and other was pertaining to political murder of millions of Pakistanis in Islamabad.
Qadri said that no power can now deter 'revolution' in the country, adding that the present government would not last till the end of current month.
