Four people including an intelligence agency's officer and a pray caller were killed in separate incidents of violence, here on Sunday. According to police and rescue sources, Amir Azhar, 30, son of Mohammad Ali Azhar was shot and killed by unknown persons while offering resistance during an alleged robbery bid near Sakhi Hassan Churangi located in the jurisdiction of Noor Jehan police station.
Police said the incident took place on Sunday late night when Amir Azhar, an intelligence agency's officer was on his way to somewhere after attending a marriage ceremony. Suddenly, unknown robbers intercepted him and tried to rob his mobile and other valuables. On resistance, the robbers opened fire on him and managed to run away from the crime scene leaving him fatally injured. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment but succumbed to his injuries. The body bore eight bullet marks in different parts. The deceased was said to be resident of North Karachi Block-E.
In another case, Maulana Muhammad Faisal, son of Muhammad Ashraf, a pray caller, was gunned down by unidentified men near Pakistan Masjid, located in Ranchore Line. Police said that the incident occurred when the deceased was on the way back to his home after offering Namaze Fajr in nearby Masjid. Unknown persons opened multiple fires on him from a point blank range and fled from the scene. Resultantly, he succumbed to his injuries. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital (CH) for post-mortem examination.
In other violent incident, Amir, son of Abu-Talib, was shot and killed while Fareed son of Saleem-ul-Haq was shot and injured by unknown men in Majeed Colony Landhi area. The incident occurred during the early hours of Sunday. The body and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a man named, Nabeel, 24, son of Ahmed Ali, was killed in an alleged encounter with police in Lyari. The deceased was allegedly involved in different killing incidents in the city. Police said that he was affiliated with banned Lyari gangster group. The body was shifted to CHK for autopsy. The incident took place when police, on a tip-off, conducted a targeted raid at Kalakot in Lyari, where criminals opened fire on them. In retaliatory, Nabeel, was killed. The deceased criminal belonged to Naeem Lahoti gang. He was also wanted in cases of extortion and target killings. One pistol with live bullets and one hand grenade were also recovered from his possession.
