Veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Geelani has said that India is imitating the Israeli policies in Kashmir and is planning to make a new Gaza out of Kashmir. "They want to make Kashmiris strangers in their own land like Palestinians and they have begun to act on those aggressive policies," Geelani said adding people of Kashmir will resist tooth and nail the nefarious designs of the communal forces and won't allow anybody to divide Jammu and Kashmir on communal and sectarian lines, KMS reported.
Expressing satisfaction over the overwhelming response to the strike call against the declaration of Kausarnag as the new yatra destination, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Geelani has said that people of Kashmir are mature enough to understand the importance of every issue.
He strongly condemned the house arrest of Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Mohammad Yousuf Mujahid, Raja Mehraj-ud-din and Dr Ghulam Muhammad Ganai and other Hurriyet leaders.
Thanking people for making the shutdown call a success, Geelani said if Kousarnaag movement is not stopped, Hurriyet will reach the people from every walk of life and will present its stand and programme before public, after consulting civil society, lawyers associations, social activists and the organisation for protection of environment.
The veteran leader said that these communal minded people of India had left no stone unturned in harassing the Muslim population. "The youth who protested against the use of the pages of holy Quran in the fire crackers on Eid day were arrested and detained in different police stations. Those who were arrested include Hamzah Mir, Syed Ahmad Tantray, Ghulam Nabi Ganai, Raja Khanday, Raju Ganai, Shabbir Ahmad Kumar, Altaf Ahmad Butt and Nadeem Ahmad Hajam and are not yet released," he said and demanded their immediate release.
