06 Aug, 2014

Employees of Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Department (PLDDD) project "Support Service for Livestock Farms" staged a demonstration here on Tuesday to press the provincial government for regularisation of their jobs. They alleged that 800 employees attached with the Phase-III of Support Service for Livestock Farms (SSLF) project had been sent by the provincial government on forced leave of eight months with four months extension while through another order, the department had also issued a notification for appointment of new employees.
They said that these employees were posted in Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Layyah, Hafizabad, Rawalpindi, Pakpattan, Kasur and Nankana Sahib. They said that the government should not take these 800 employees as individual but in fact they were feeding 800 families and their termination from the services would lead to starvation of their families. They said that SSLF was initiated by the department throughout the province but employees of Phase-I and Phase-II were regularised while employees of Phase-III were facing threat of termination after six years in service.
They said that they had also staged sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly twice earlier but always sent back to home with sympathy promises. They said that the government had always promised to regularise them but in practical steps being taken by the department hinting at something else.
