Pakistan's overall export of leather goods has posted an increase of 11 per cent to $621.520 million in the just concluded fiscal year 2013-14, an official statistics say. During the last fiscal year 2013-14, the country's export of leather goods went up by $60.227 million from $561.293 million in the corresponding fiscal year 2012-13, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) depicts.
In June 2014, the export of leather goods, however, showed a fall of $1.07 million (2 per cent) to $50.981 million as compared to the goods export of $52.051 million in June 2013, the statistics suggest. In break-up: Export of leather garments stood $405.695 million in the last fiscal year 2013-14 up by $27.697 million (7.33 per cent) from $377.998 million in the corresponding fiscal year 2012-13, the PBS says.
In term of volume: Export of leather garments grew by 322,000 dozens (34.11 per cent) to 1.2 million dozens in the last fiscal year 2013-14 from 944,000 dozens in corresponding fiscal year 2012-13, according to the figures. Leather garments export in June 2014 fell by $0.552 million (2 per cent) to $33.889 million as compared to the garments export of $34.441 million in June 2014, the statistics indicate.
Export volume of leather garments also declined by 16,000 dozens (2 per cent) to 79,000 dozens in June 2014 from 95,000 dozens in June 2013, the PBS shows. Export of leather gloves surged by $32.063 million (19 per cent) to $200.818 million during the last fiscal year 2013-14 from $168.755 million in the corresponding fiscal year 2012-13, according to the official statistics.
Export size of leather gloves went up by 1.847 million dozens (31 per cent) to 7.437 million dozens in the last fiscal year 2013-14 from 5.590 million in the corresponding fiscal year 2012-13, the figures say. In June 2014, the export of leather gloves increased by $0.569 million (4 per cent) to $16.158 million from $15.589 million in June 2013. In term of volume, export of leather gloves dipped by 218, 000 dozens (34.06 per cent) in June 2014 to 422,000 dozens from 640,000 dozens in June 2013, the PBS suggests.
The export of other leather goods during the last fiscal year 2013-14 went up by $0.467 million (3.21 per cent) to $15.007 million from $14.540 million in the corresponding fiscal year. In June 2014, the export of other leather goods plunged by $1.087 million (54 per cent) to $0.934 million in June 2014 from $2.021 million in June 2013, the PBS says.
