The country is in ferment: Corps Commanders meet today to take stock of situation

After a gap of two months, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif convened an emergency meeting of the Corps Commanders at the Army General Headquarters today (Monday) to discuss the internal and external security situation in the country.
Defence sources said that the ongoing military operation 'Zarb-e-Azb' in North Waziristan, resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and internal security on the eve of and on Independence Day of Pakistan will come under discussion.
Sources further maintained that the COAS would also inform the corps commanders regarding the decisions made at Saturday's National Security Conference. The ongoing military operation, Zarb-e-Azb, will be thoroughly discussed. The operation is heading towards its conclusion after remarkable successes, the sources said. The Army chief would also inform the corps commanders regarding his four-day trip to Australia.
