The Karachi Port handled 229,153 tonnes of cargo comprising 205,716 tonnes of import cargo and 23,437 tonnes of export cargo including 1,133 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 205,716 tonnes comprised of 26,345 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,454 tonnes of general cargo; 59,266 tonnes of bulk cargo: 33,014 tonnes of coal; 7,849 tonnes of soyabean meal; 10,940 tonnes of coke; 7,463 tonnes of DAP and 104,651 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,437 tonnes comprised of 19,037 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 4,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 1,133 containers comprising 21 containers import and 1,112 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 21 of 20's and nil 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 30 of 20's and 58 of 40's loaded containers while 296 of 20's and 335 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were twelve ships namely PAC Aries, APL Seattle, Lissy Schulte, Hyundai Busan, MOL Premium, Ashahda, Sunrise Eco, EL Gurdabia, Osam Jumbo-5, Bofors, Filia Glory and Amony Fortune carrying containers, oil tankers, tug, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. EL Gurdabia, Sunrise Eco, Audacious, Captain Harry, Amony Fortune and Ertea carrying oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are three ships namely Pona, Audacious and Ertea carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday.
There were six vessels viz. Pona, MOL Distinction, Hanjin Scarlet, MT Lahore, Alam Maju and Han De carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday, while six vessels viz. OOCL New York, Kota Karim, Al-Mahboobah, Atlantic Sirius, Turris and Nord Coponhog carrying containers, chemical, mogas and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
