What was wrong in government decision to allow PTI's march and sit-in within the parameters defined by the Lahore High Court judgement? Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday evening, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan made it very clear that the government would implement the verdict in letter and spirit. He also explained that any party or group intending to carry out such activity can make a request to the administration of the district concerned. The administration would determine whether the activity falls within the purview of law and constitution. Parties will be asked to give guarantees that their gatherings and sit-ins will not disturb the normal life, according to him.
But the Lahore High Court decision has added to confusion. Although, government has claimed that the court has barred both Imran and Dr Qadri for holding marches, there is confusion insofar as the interpretation of court's order is concerned. According to Imran, the court has placed no restrictions on a march or a protest if it is held in a constitutional way.
