Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has chalked out a comprehensive strategy to further improve the overall performance of TEVETA Institutions in addition to offering 30 percent more admissions this year, said Chairman Board of Management TEVTA Faisalabad.
Addressing the Board of Management (BOM) TEVETA, he said that last year 5,708 students were enrolled in various TEVTA institutions while this year 8,000 students will get admission in Faisalabad. He said that some institutions are not working with its full capacity and administrative steps are being taken to fully exploit their potential in order to overcome the shortage of skilled manpower in the country.
The meeting also reviewed and discussed the problems confronted by various TEVTA institutions and necessary recommendations were also made to resolve the same. Engineer Suhail Bin Rashid President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) said that Government College of Technology (GCT) Samanabad has been declared centre of excellence while another two centres would also be elevated to this status during the year. He said that food technology courses offered by GCT have attracted a large number of students while their demand in job market was also more than satisfactory. He said that most of these students get job before completion of their diploma.
The BOM decided that the government Institute of Technology Millat Town would be inaugurated during next month. It was also decided that monthly meeting of TEVTA BOM will be held on first Wednesday of every month at 2.30pm. These meetings would be held alternatively at various TEVTA institutions. The BOM also decided to invite Chairman Pakistan Gem and Jewellery Development Company at the platform of FCCI in order to pave way for the establishment of Gem and Jewellry Training Centre at Faisalabad.
