A policeman among the three people who were killed in separate incidents of violence while the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) has claimed to have foiled a terror bid in Karachi on Sunday. A Head Constable was shot dead by unknown people near Sunday Bazaar in Baldia Town No-12 in the jurisdictions of Saeedabad police station.
The deceased was identified as Wakeel Ahmed, 40, son of Khair Muhammad. Mukarram Shah, an official of the Saeedabad police station, said the incident took place on Sunday morning when Wakeel Ahmad was on the way back to his home after performing duty at the Pak Colony police station. When he reached at Saeedabad, Sector 9-B, just near his house, some unknown people opened indiscriminate fire on him leaving him critically injured. He was moved to the Civil Hospital (CH) for treatment but he succumbed to his injuries due to massive bleeding. "A First Investigation Report (FIR) No-443/2014 has been registered in the said police station and investigations are underway," he added.
In the same way, a sexagenarian, Habibur Rehman, was gunned down by unknown people in Manghopir near the Northern Bypass. In another incident, Ghulam Mohiuddin, 30, was electrocuted in a garment factory located in SITE Area.
Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) claimed to have foiled a terror bid as it defused a 10-kilogram bomb which was fixed in a rickshaw in Orangi Town. Manghopir PS SHO Tanweer Murad told Business Recorder that the remote control bomb, which was fixed in a CNG rickshaw, was defused by the BDS team. "The assailants might be targeting a government vehicle," the SHO added.
