The European Union Delegation underlines its conviction that the Constitution of Pakistan provides the legitimate framework for dialogue to resolve the current impasse. The consolidation of democracy is one of the European Union's top priorities in Pakistan. The EU has funded a significant number of programmes aimed at strengthening parliamentary institutions, both at the federal and provincial levels.
The EU also funds capacity building initiatives to support electoral reform, in line with the 50 recommendations submitted by the EU Election Observation Mission following the 2013 general elections in Pakistan.
