PEF begins disaster risk management training

National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) - a subsidiary of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Islamabad, has started two-day training workshop for principals of partner schools of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and staff members from August 20.
According to a spokesman of Punjab Education Foundation, NIDM will impart hands-on training on disaster and emergency preparedness related topics. NIDM is imparting this training under a UN project "School Safety Plan" for principals and teachers of educational institutions for which it has also engaged experts from private sector and universities.
In order to raise awareness and sensitise PEF stakeholders, NIDM will impart customize training on diverse issues including disaster risk management, hazards identification within schools and schools safety assessment. During the training, experts from Rescue 1122 will teach about first aid and fire safety at schools. The purpose of this training is to sensitise the partner schools and PEF staff members about hazard-free living lifestyle, concluded the spokesman.
