21 Aug, 2014

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed stern action against staffers of anti-car lifting cell's ASI Mustafa Lassi and Constable Ghulam Abbas for being involved in criminal activities. Police sources on Wednesday said the provincial police chief called the SSP Car Lifting Cell to his office to review the cell's performance.
Expressing serious concern about involvement of certain cops in anti-social and criminal activities, he said the two policemen arrested by PS Baloch Colony during its campaign against criminals was a matter of serious concern. "It is high time to take stock of the situation and get rid of black sheep in our ranks," he was stated to have said.
IG said strict departmental and legal action must be taken against the culprits and all concerned authorities must keep strict vigil on their colleagues and sub-ordinates so as to avoid repetition of such unfortunate and alarming instances. IG Jamali also ordered the SSP of ACLC to activate cell's helpline 1132 and develop close co-ordination with anti car lifting cells of other provinces so as to not only contain such incidents but also ensure timely recovery of snatched vehicles.
ACLC's SSP, Noman Siddiqui said the cell has developed a computerised data of vehicles to strengthen the helpline 1132 and facilitate the citizens who through a single call can acquire relevant details of registered cars they may be planning to purchase. He said movement of all vehicles into and out of the provincial borders or even within the province is also being streamlined to thwart attempts to snatch and smuggle vehicles out of the province.
