Jamaat-i-Islami declines to favour any unconstitutional, undemocratic step

Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) has declared in unequivocal terms that no unconstitutional and undemocratic step is acceptable to them and National and four provincial assemblies should complete its constitutional period while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly should not be dissolved in any circumstances.
This was stated after a meeting of the JI affiliated members of National and provincial assemblies from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held here with Provincial Amir, Professor Mohammad Ibrahim in the chair. Central Amir, Siraj-ul-Haq also attended the meeting. Those who attended were included JI parliamentary leader in NA, Sahibzada Tariqullah Khan, Sher Akbar Khan MNA, Provincial Ministers, Inayatullah Khan, Habib-ur-Rehman, MPAs Muzaffar Said, Mohammad Ali Khan, Saeed Gul and Malik Behram Khan. The provincial general secretary, Shabir Ahmad Khan and secretary information, Israrullah Khan advocate also attended the meeting.
The meeting said that JI is part of the provincial government and backing it. However, they said the presentation of no-confidence against the government is the right of the opposition. They said that for period of more than one decade Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is facing severe difficulties due to lawlessness, terrorism, unemployment, price-hike and in the presently due to the displacement of the millions of people from North Waziristan.
They said that in present circumstances the dissolution of provincial assembly or political instability is not in favour of the people of the province. The meeting also took the decision that whatever change in the country either it is the replacement of the prime minister, fixation of the time period of parliament or electoral reforms should be within the parameter of constitution, saying the trend of the removal of the prime minister or governments through sit-ins and unconstitutional means will danger repercussions on democracy in the country. The country will be gripped by anarchy and disturbance and the country would become a joke in the world.
During the meeting, Amir JI briefed the participants on his reconciliatory efforts between the government and PTI. The meeting decided that the party will support the supremacy of constitution, parliament and democracy in the country and the party chief will continue its efforts for bringing the country out of the prevailing grave political crisis.
Addressing the meeting, JI chief, Siraj-ul-Haq said that in case of the abolition of the present constitution of Pakistan maintenance of unity in different nations and sects in the country will become difficult. He said that the constitution of 1973 is consensual document, which was signed by then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (late), Mufti Mehmood (late), Abdul Wali Khan (late), Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani (late) and national leaders. He said giving such constitution was a big achievement.
He said that in case the constitution was violated then consensus on any new constitutional document would be difficult. He said that sit-ins in Islamabad had played havoc with the national economy and stock exchange is on decline. Siraj-ul-Haq said that he had taken all demands of Imran Khan to central government, but he could not mention the demand of the resignation of the prime minister nor it was must. He said that they are of the opinion that procedure for the election of new prime minister and his departure is present in the constitution and it should be followed.
He said that if the process of deciding the fate of the elected prime minister was started on road then no one will govern this country and we will become joke for the whole world. To a question regarding the dissolution of KP assembly, he said that JI is opposing the trend the very beginning. He said that if some wanted to resign from the assembly even then they advised them to avoid the decision and if some is keen then they could not stopped them.
He said that JI and Awami Jamhoori Ittehad are part of the provincial government. However, if PTI wanted to dissociate from the government then that is their own course. He said that the constituencies where alleged rigging has been made are in Punjab, then why its punishment is being given to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. To another question, he said that due to the incompetency of the politicians the solution to matter has been shifted from Islamabad to Rawalpindi. However, he said he is still not exhausted and will continue search solution to the problem through negotiations. To a question regarding force entry into PM House, he said entry into any house has a procedure and it should be followed, saying the adoption of unconstitutional means will inflict irreparable loss to democracy, nation and country.
