Priyanka Chopra caved in and apologized over the controversial episode of her American series ‘Quantico’ after protests, led by Hindu outfits, erupted across the state against the actress for showing Indians in poor light.
The episode has caused a storm on social media, while many took to the streets in protest. In the episode, Chopra, who plays CIA operative Alex Parrish, foils a plot by Indian nationalists who want to carry out a nuclear attack in Manhattan and then blame Pakistan for the same.
Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta, who led the protest, told ANI, “Priyanka should apologise to the whole nation for this act. She got her identity as Miss World from India and now she is not doing good for the country”.
Protesters were seen carrying posters bearing slogans 'Priyanka Chopra is a traitor, send her to Pakistan'. There have also been calls to boycott Chopra's work and the brands she endorses, including Samsung.
Soon after the massive protests and hatred all over the internet, PeeCee took to Twitter and apologized to her nation over the recent episode.
I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico. That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I'm a proud Indian and that will never change.
