Malaysian team visits UET Peshawar

A two-member team of professors from Malaysian university visited University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar on 22-August Professor Dr Fauziah Ahmad and Professor Dr Mohammad Rodzi Ismail of "University Sains Malaysia, P. Pianang" met the Vice-Chancellor UET Engr. Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani who was accompanied by his senior team of faculty and administration.
The visiting team exchanged their academic and research interests and were given presentation of UET with specific emphasis on Earthquake Engineering. During one-hour presentation in UET conference hall, detailed discussion between two sides focused on issue related to codes under legislative framework, highway infrastructure, landslides, earthquake engineering, structural integrity of buildings etc, according to press release issued here on Friday. The Vice-Chancellor UET initiated the dialogue which was agreed by the Malaysian team to work on joint research to benefit both countries and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding.
Both sides agreed to develop means to engage in long-term collaboration in area of science and technology. At the end, the Malaysian professors were given a guided tour of Earthquake Engineering Center of UET Peshawar which is the largest facility of this region, actively involved in addressing indigenous seismic challenges of Pakistan.
