Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) on Monday took a strong exception to the call for withdrawal of money from public sector banks and termed it a wrong notion towards the economic well being of the country. PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javed in a statement said that it was very unfortunate that some politicians were trying to give a final blow to the economy through wrong statements.
He said the call for civil disobedience and transfer of foreign exchange through illegal channels like Hundi would tarnish the image of the country. He said the politics of Dharnas had already caused a considerable loss to the country as a whole. PIAF chairman further said that long marches and sit-ins were not solution of any issue and it creates only troubles for businessmen and masses. He said that political parties should resolve all issues on table because ongoing political scenario is emerging at the cost of economy. He said that economy is under serious threat and all political parties should play their best role in dealing with these challenges.
He said that such activities would not only tarnish the image of the country in the eyes of international community but would also hinder economic progress in general and the businesses. He said that the country has been facing different challenges, including terrorism, extremism and energy. "It cannot afford such activities that would cause political instability that will adversely affect the economy," he added. He was of the view that the leadership of all political parties should join hands for strengthening the economy instead of hatching conspiracies against the government for their interests. The political leaders should settle issues in Parliament which is the just forum for this purpose, he added.
