All necessary measures have been adopted by the provincial government to face the possible challenge of famine in Thar, said Sindh Food Minister, Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Tuesday. Talking to media he said that all the five main godowns have been filled with wheat so as to meet the food requirements of the people in case of any dearth consequent to scanty rainfall.
Sharing further details of the arrangement, the minister said the department's godowns in Mirpurkhas and Sanghar also hold provision of no less than 400,000 bags full of wheat. Mehtab Hussain Dahar said the department holds every capacity to transport, within 48 hours notice, these 400,000 bags filled with wheat to the store-rooms in Thar.
He said the arrangement has been made as part of pre-emptive measures to handle any difficult situation and this is being ensured that the people of Thar may not face any difficulty. "The PPP government is committed to serve the people and meet all their essential requirements," the minister said.
