APA held for accumulating illegal assets

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday arrested Maqsood Hassan, Assistant Political Agent (APA), Upper Kurram Agency on the charges of accumulation of assets beyond known sources of his income. According to details a complaint was received in NAB KP wherein it was mentioned that Maqsood Hassan, the then assistant political agent, had accumulated huge assets including one house, several plots in Hayatabad and heavy investments in national saving schemes.
The NAB took the cognisance of the case and started inquiry. During inquiry it was revealed that the accusations mentioned in the complaint are true. Therefore, NAB arrested the accuseed for further investigations The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court for obtaining his physical remand into NAB custody.
Meanwhile, NAB KP arrested another accused Rana Babar Shaukat in embezzlement of funds by officials of the Pak PWD, Batkhela case. The accused was DAO of Pak PWD Office Batkhela from October 2009 to July 2011. During his tenure in said office he made payments of millions of rupees to contractors for substandard and incomplete schemes. In the same case four officials of Pak PWD Batkhela are already arrested by NAB and further investigations are in progress.
