This Eid-ul-Fitr will be a tad bit different than the older ones, as cinemas won't show Bollywood films and instead will screen four of the most anticipated Lollywood star-studded movies of the year.
Government has pushed forward the release of Bollywood movies during Eid holidays in order to promote the local cinema. An interesting mix of Pakistani movies will be showcased during the Eid holidays and the cinema goers will have the option to choose between Hollywood or the Pakistani movies.
7 Din Mohabbat In
This is one of the most anticipated Pakistani movies starring Mahira Khan in the lead role. It’s a light comedy revolving around a young man on the voyage of finding the true love.
Azaadi
This film gives a patriotic vibe and revives the film career of Moammar Rana. The film tells the tale of an old man (Nadeem Baig) who has dedicated his life fighting for the Kashmir cause, and how his mission is carried forward by a young freedom fighter, played by Moammar. The romance angle is provided by a British journalist, portrayed by Sonya Hussyn.
Wajood
It’s a revenge drama starring Danish Taimoor in the lead role. It has been labeled as a ‘violent love story’ by the makers of the movie.
Na Band Na Baraati
Na Band Na Baraati is multi-starrer comedy movie starring Meekal Zulfiqar, Nayab Khan, Ali Kazmi, Azra Mohiyyuddin and Atiqa Odho in the lead role.
With these Pakistani releases, Hollywood movies such as ‘Ocean’s 8’ and ‘Jurrasic World’ will also fight for their share during Eid. After Eid, Bollywood's two big releases - Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3’ and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sanju’ - will hit the cinemas in Pakistan.
