Ukraine kept grain exports at a high level in August, shipping 2.17 million tonnes of various grains from August 1 to 26, agriculture consultancy UkrAgroConsult said on Thursday. The volume included 1.19 million tonnes of wheat and 777,000 tonnes of barley, it said in a report. Ukraine exported about 2 million tonnes of grain in July. UkrAgroConsult noted that an additional 1.35 million tonnes of grain, including 1.16 million tonnes of wheat, was likely to be exported in the near future.
Ukraine plans to harvest no less than 63 million tonnes of grain this year and could export about 30 million tonnes in the 2014/15 season which runs from July to June.
