Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said that all the democratic forces including Pakistan Peoples Party would never compromise on supremacy of the Constitution and the Parliament. Talking to newsmen in Karachi on Saturday, the PPP leader said the Parliament reflects aspirations of the people and all issues should be resolved through the Parliament.
Khursheed Shah said some people say that there is no democracy here, while the others do not want this parliament. He said the ones staging sit-ins in Islamabad are not in favour of the Constitution and democracy. The Opposition leader said that PPP will not make any compromise on the rule of the Constitution and the parliament and vowed to fight till last breath for saving democracy in the state. He said an elected parliament is present here and all the decisions should be made through it.
"People know all parties and their characters", he said. Shah asked the 20 crore masses to open their eyes and observe what role is being played by whom. Criticising the PTI and PAT, Shah said that the protesting parties do not love and respect democracy and the Constitution. He also said the military is a patriotic institution and it is aware of the emotions and sentiments of the people. "Pakistan Army also knows the people's emotions and desires", he added.
In reply to a question he said what PTI and PAT are doing against the Constitution and against the spirit of democracy. Replying to another question, he said Pakistan Army is patriotic and can feel pulse of the nation better than anyone else. Moreover, Khursheed Shah stressed that reconciliation between the government and protesting parties should also be held through the parliament.
