The Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly (PA) and a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Mehmoodur Rasheed, has warned that any action against his party chief Imran Khan could turn 'Red Zone' into 'Dead Zone'.
Talking to media persons at the PAT protest rally in Thokar Niaz Baig area of Lahore, Mehmoodur Rasheed said that fire ignited in the Red Zone of the federal capital could reach the houses of ruling elites.
Hundreds of PTI workers led by party leaders, including Yasmeen Rashid and Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, blocked the Canal Road by burning tyres and placing hurdles. They chanted slogans against the government and ruling political leadership besides demanding them to step down.
The opposition leader alleged the Punjab government sent thousands of wicked in police uniform who set a new example of inhumanity by brutally torturing the peaceful protestors of PTI and PAT marches.
He said that those involved in use of force against the unarmed protestors would be brought to book and exemplary punishment would be awarded to them.
The PTI leader said the Sharif brothers have taken shelter in their hideouts due to response of general public over their undemocratic steps.
He urged the leaders of PML-N ruling in the centre and in Punjab to come out and face masses for responding to people over their misdeeds.
Mehmoodur Rashid and other leaders addressing the participants of protest demonstration paid rich tribute to their commitment for standing firm on stance of party leadership and bearing all hardships in this regard.
Mehmoodur Rasheed also warned police to avoid creating hurdles in 'peaceful protests' otherwise they would be considered responsible for any untoward incident.
