On behalf of the Pakistani people and on my own behalf, I extend sincere congratulations on the occasion of Malaysia's 57th National Day. I send my best wishes for the peace and prosperity of the people of Malaysia.
Counting the sixth decade of its independence, Malaysia today is one of the major economic, political and cultural centers in the world. As I send my congratulations on this occasion, I strongly believe that our countries will discover more opportunities of cooperation in all spheres and that the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Pakistan will continue to consolidate.
The history, culture and achievements of your country and nation are a perfect example for everybody who endeavors to build a prosperous, safe and democratic society. I heartily wish that the Pakistani people can always make use of and benefit from those political, economic, technological and cultural achievements that your country is proud of today.
Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy close bilateral trade and economic relations which are rooted in faith. The Free Trade Agreement is the 1st bilateral FTA between two Muslim Countries - members of OIC. I also wish that the FTA contributes to the enhancement of mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries and promotes consolidation of our shared values of freedom, openness and peace. This Agreement is Pakistan's first comprehensive FTA incorporating trade in goods, trade in services, investment and Economic Co-operation and Malaysia's first bilateral FTA with any south Asian country. I hope the FTA will boost trade between Pakistan & Malaysia. We also appreciate Malaysian support to Pakistan for Full Dialogue Partner Status with ASEAN.
Pakistan looks forward to continuing its close cooperation with the government and the people of Malaysia to continue to strengthen democracy, peace and prosperity in the region.
